2009 Vera Bradley Classic Wrap-Up
2009 Vera Bradley Classic raises $782,952
More than 1,000 supporters, including golf and tennis players, volunteers and sponsors, came out to support breast cancer research at the 16th annual Vera Bradley Classic Golf and Tennis Tournament. The $782,952 raised this year surpassed many expectations in these tough economic times. “We did way better than what was projected,” says Foundation Executive Director Catherine Hill.
There were 596 participants in this year’s events, including survivors, family and friends, and employees taking part in various golf and tennis events held at Sycamore Hills, Wildwood Racquet Club and Pine Valley Country Club. All money raised goes to breast cancer research at Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis. “It’s wonderful to see our honored guests, the breast cancer survivors, volunteering for us and participating in the golf and tennis events,” Hill said. “They are the people that inspire us to continue this work.”
