Painting with a Purpose Raises More Than $28,000
Fort Wayne, Indiana (April 4, 2012) — Art and beauty met hope and passion during the month of February, where more than 30 Painting with a Twist stores held Painting with a Purpose events across the nation to help raise more than $28,000 for the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer Research.
Artists of all ages came out to let their creativity flow, eat and be merry – while putting their hearts on canvas for a cause. Some paintings were made in honor of friends and family, others were fun and sassy, and all were beautiful.
“The fundraisers were great and the community showed up in support!” says Kermie Irvin, owner of two PWAT locations in Texas who together raised $1,850. “We hope to make next year an even bigger event for our studios.”
Jennifer Elwell, owner of a new PWAT location in Skippack, Pennsylvania, agrees: “Though we just opened, we were able to get great participation from the community. People in the area really care about the cause, and with Vera Bradley, they responded well.”
The pieces painted were specially selected just for that specific night. At each location, 50% of proceeds went towards breast cancer research. At several shops, store managers and attendees had special connections to the cause. And at a few events, survivors joined in on the fun, too, making the event all the more moving.
“At the PWAT studio I attended, the resident artist/store manager has a very poignant connection to our cause; she has family members being treated for cancer right now. Her passion to help us fuel funds for a cause was spread quickly to everyone attending!” says Heidi Floyd, Foundation Ambassador.
A big thank you to all PWAT locations, artists and friends who joined hands – and paintbrushes – to make a real difference. We are already planning to pick up our palettes for the cause in the future!
