Turn the Town Pink Raises More than $55,000
Fort Wayne, Indiana (June 8, 2010) — The Vera Bradley Foundation turned Fort Wayne pink throughout the month of May to help raise breast cancer awareness. Through the sales of pink ribbons and generous sponsors, the Turn the Town Pink campaign raised $55,843.

The Fort Wayne TinCaps wore their special pink jerseys for their "Pink" game to benefit the Foundation.
“What an incredible outpouring of support we felt from the whole Fort Wayne community," said Foundation Executive Director Catherine Hill. "These dollars will get right to work in the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer Research in Indianapolis. Together, we WILL make breast cancer history.”
Events included a special "PINK" Fort Wayne TinCaps game with a Mayoral Proclamation and Voices of Unity performance beforehand. At the game, breast cancer survivor Donna Roof at the opportunity to throw the first pitch. Local band Urban Legend also performed at a free concert at Jefferson Pointe.
The money raised will go directly to funding research at the Vera Bradley Center for Breast Cancer Research Laboratories at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis.
