Fort Wayne, Indiana (February 18, 2010) — Partnering with the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer, the Fort Wayne Area High School Hockey League helped raise money for breast cancer research during their annal "Stick it to Cancer" event. “It’s was a huge honor to attend "Stick it to Cancer." I was especially touched by the players who invited the cancer survivors in their lives," says Foundation Executive Director Catherine Hill. "This event was another reminder that cancer affects us all, and unites us in a common goal to put an end to it.”
Fans were able to tour the Canlan Ice Sports, the new ice and sports complex in Indiana and enjoy competitive hockey; meet legendary Komets player Eddie “Mr. Komet” Long; and cheer on local hockey teams on the ice. Vera Bradley Chief Operating Officer Jill Nichols also had the opportunity to take part in the opening ceremonies by dropping the ceremonial puck.
