Vera Bradley Turns the Town Pink
Fort Wayne, Indiana (May 15, 2009) — Twenty six Vera Bradley employees and Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer volunteers came together to tie more than 400 pink ribbons in downtown Fort Wayne today.
"Turn the Town Pink is one of my favorite days of the year, and now we are extending the joy and the excitement by turning it into three separate ribbon hanging days," says Foundation Executive Director Catherine Hill. "All of the Vera Bradley employees love to have such a hands-on experience supporting the Foundation. There is really something special about placing the names on each of those ribbons. It makes you stop to count your blessings."
“Each pink ribbon hung represents a visual story of the many lives that have been touched by breast cancer,” says Vera Bradley Marketing Coordinator Dana Bingley. “Like many of these stories, my family has also been affected by this devastating disease. Hanging the pink ribbons for me is my time to honor my Aunt Pam and the many others that have passed away. It is inspirational in many ways to view all of the ribbons that were hung with high hopes to find a cure.”
Throughout the month of may, the Vera Bradley Foundation, in partnership with Lutheran Cancer Center, will be transforming downtown Fort Wayne into a sea of pink ribbons. Today, volunteers hung ribbons along Freimann Square and Headwater’s Park, and will be going out again on Friday, May 22, and Thursday, May 28.
